Books For Zambia

Empowering Luanshya, one book at a time

Hello and Thank you! for visiting Books for Zambia.

We at Books for zambia strive to arm the young people and indeed the community of Luanshya with the so much needed education and knowledge through supporting the only Library in this small town in Zambia with books and other amenities. The library is mostly frequented by School children and aiding Luanshya's youth with their education is not only motivating but will make for a brighter and better future.

Starting in January 2008, Helen Kaunda Memorial Library will be undergoing rehabilitation work and will be closed until March of 2008. This work is made possible under ZCCM-IH Copperbelt Environment Project, and the World Bank will fund the rehabilitation works. This is such a great leap for the library and we at Books for Zambia are more determined than ever to fill the new shelves with books.

Books for Zambia is not a funded project and as such we ask that donors ship the books themselves. Yes, we will take even that one book. All we ask is that the books be mildly used and be in one piece.

For 2008 our emphasis will be on -

* Children's books
* Text books in Engineering, Science and Math at all levels
* All other reading material, including novels are also appreciated
* Computers

For 2007 our special thanks go to the Librarian at Cathedral High School of Boston, Massachusetts and Mr Thomas Mambwe of Kent, UK for going the extra mile to get books to Luanshya.

Thank you for your support and lets keep the knowledge flowing.
